Out in front

When it comes to great bass, Illusion Audio does things a little differently. Their Carbon C12 12" subwoofer features a magnetic motor that's mounted in front of the cone, unlike the rear-mount magnet in most subs. Why go to all this trouble? For one thing, the woofer is shallower, making it easier to fit in smaller spaces. And, because the motor releases heat from the front of the speaker, you don't have the problem of heat buildup inside of the sub's enclosure. The motor's heat sink fins help keep things even cooler, while the speaker's unique design allows extended cone travel with very low distortion.

Carbon cone

The C12's woven carbon fiber cone is reinforced with a high-damping epoxy resin for the ideal combination of low weight and stiffness to reproduce strong, clear bass. The cone's rubber surround keeps things on track, while the cast aluminum basket with its striking black powdercoat finish holds everything together, providing the necessary stability for great bass.
